This rare vielle a roue, also known in English as the hurdy gurdy, was built by Decante of Jenzat. The bridge and key section cover likely are not original. The key section cover, tailpiece and wheel-cover were repainted at some point. The stamp reads, "Decante a Jenzat". It was made before Jacques Decante went into partnership with J.B Cailhe around 1850. There is a stamp on the back of the keybox that indicates it was repaired at the Pajot workshop in 1892. The wheel & axle were probably repaired then, as the rear bearing is not original.
