This Hemen sitar is in excellent cosmetic and functional condition, and sounds incredibly beautiful, rich, and balanced. This sitar was purchased at the Ali Akbar Khan School in 2007 after the original purchaser spent eight hours deciding which sitar in the shop sounded best. It cost $2500 at that time, six years ago. Sitar makers typically denote which sitars are their best by the amount of decorations on the sitar, which dealers typically then classify as #1, #2, and #3, in descending order of quality. This sitar is a #1.
