Shipping and Delivery

How do you pack your items?

We always pack our items very carefully. We never use styrofoam packing peanuts as the primary packing or filler, and usually pack our smaller and medium-sized items with layers of large bubble wrap and ship in sturdy cardboard boxes that are often double-walled if the item is larger or fragile. For larger items that ship via freight, we will usually crate or box and palletize the item, or the item will be blanket-wrapped with white-glove treatment if it is moved by a professional mover.

Do you ship internationally? Back to Top

Yes, we ship internationally. As every country has its own regulations, taxes, and duties for the import of antique and other musical instruments, we use shipping agents with whom we are familiar and whom we trust to get instruments across the border without any damage and with as few issues or delays as possible. Shipments to addresses outside the United States may incur customs and brokerage fees once the shipments reaches the customer's country. Since import taxes and/or duties that your government might impose on products shipped from the United States may apply, all customs costs, duties and taxes are NOT included in the shipping charges and are the responsibility of the customer, even if they are charged after the sale. Customs policies differ from country to country; unfortunately, we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. If the shipments are received and the customs/brokerage fees are not paid, we reserve the right to bill the customer for the fees. These additional charges may be charged when you pick up the item at customers or during delivery. It is the sole responsibility of the international customer to check local regulations when buying exported goods. These fees are not included in any product or shipping charges. Customs charges through any carrier that are not paid and are reverted back to us will be charged to the customer. If the customer refuses to pay the fees and the shipment is returned to us, the customer will be billed the return shipping charges and any additional fees.

Due to manufacturer restrictions, certain brands can not be shipped outside of the United States. Please call us to find out if the item(s) you are interested in can be shipped internationally. We can ship to any locations that use a US Postal ZIP Code such as US Military addresses, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands etc. Please contact us with any questions regarding item qualification.

Without limitation, Antiquity Music is not repsonsible for any duty, VAT, or additional taxes that may be charged after the sale.  These additional charges may be charged when you pick up the item at customers or during delivery.  It is the sole responsibility of the international customer to check local regulations when buying exported goods. These fees are not included in any product or shipping chrages.

Shipping smaller items: Back to Top

The size and weight limits for these items are usually 165” length+girth (83” maximum length) and 150 lbs for FedEx. The size and wieght limits for USPS can vary, especially if we are shipping internationally. For domestic shipments, USPS usually imposes a dimensional weight, which means that the size and weight limits vary: the bigger the package, the lower the weight limit, and the smaller the package, the higher the weight limit. For international shipments, the typical maximum length for a package ranges between 40” and 48”, and the maximum weight usually ranges between 4050 lbs. Please visit fedex.com or usps.com if you have other questions regarding these two shipping services.

Shipping larger items: Back to Top

We have built up years of experience collecting and shipping rare, exotic, and unique instruments, both large and small, and have developed a network of experienced shippers and movers that we utilize for logistics. We ship items that are freight-size or larger with either furniture movers, piano movers, or freight shippers.

If a furniture mover or piano mover is chosen by the buyer, the item will always be given white-glove or blanket-wrap treatment. Delivery time can range from just a few days to three weeks depending on your location and the amount you would like to spend on getting the item to you. We only entrust our and your instruments to reputable carriers with whom we have a strong past relationships or who have a excellent reputation for the utmost care given to fragile shipments. For domestic shipments, we often find that furniture moving costs less or the same as freight shipping; feel free to inquire about prices for having and instrument blanket-wrap moved rather than freighted.Palletization and crating is not required if the item is to be blanket-wrap moved

If freight shipping is chosen by the buyer, delivery will range from just a few days to several weeks depending on whether you’d prefer a priority or economy freight service. We offer palletization and crating services for an additional fee if the buyer wants them

When will my order ship and when will I get my tracking number?  Back to Top

Orders placed after 12pm PST will usually be processed and shipped the next business day. Most orders ship within 1-2 business days if the items ordered are in stock and if payment is received without a problem. Orders requiring USPS services may take 2-3 business days for special processing and shipping. If any delay is expected, the customer will be informed of the expected date of delivery. If you ordered an oversize (i.e. freight-size) item, handling time may take longer, but usually no longer than a week. We will send you your tracking number via email on the day that your item ships. If your item ships with a furniture mover, there will often be a waybill number, but a tracking number or waybill number may not be available as quickly.
