This rare Dolceola keyboard/piano zither plays and sounds great. It has a soundboard crack that doesn't have any effect on the sound. Dolceolas were only manufactured from 1903 to 1907 by Toledo Symphony Company, and are considered the most sophisticated of the fretless zither instruments, as the keyboard mechanism mimics piano action, allowing for greater expression than a piano-mandolin zither like a Marxophone or Celestaphone.
