This vintage Leedy 5-octave marimba xylophone is a rarity, definitely custom and perhaps unique. Model or serial # 3601. The bars were refinished and retuned A=440 by Gilberto Serna of Century Mallet. It has aged Honduran rosewood bars graduating from 1.875 to 2.75" in width and from 5.75" to 20.75" in length, nickel plated brass resonators, and all original parts. The plating is original as well. This one-of-a-kind marimba has a great sound. The rails are refinished in a dark cherry stain. It does not come with any cases. This instrument is perfect for a world-class studio, musician, ensemble or orchestra. Three resonator facade end caps are missing, but these can be easily replaced by parting out any Leedy 4-octave marimba. And it doesn't make a difference functionally, as the true resonator caps are on the inside the tube, not at the end. The low C is the same as that on most 4-octave marimbas, but the high C is an octave higher. In other words, the extra octave is the top octave, not the bottom one.
