This set of tuned cowbells, also known as almglocken and referred to by some as Alpine bells (or "Alpenglocken" in German), consists of a 1-octave set of 13 chromatic bells from C to C. The bells are in excellent cosmetic condition and excellent functional condition.
These bells feature a gold-bronze finish, and are decorated with a Alpine flower motif on one side, with the respective note marked on the opposite side. As with any almglocken, these bells retain their metal clapper. Almglocken are generally tuned A=440 but not so finely tuned to be absolutely pitch-perfect, though they sound excellent with other A=440 instruments.
The bells have a beautiful, clangorous sound, evoking the folk music of the northern Alps and the music of esteemed composers who have used almglocken among their musical palette, including Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, John Adams, Olivier Messiaen, and Karlheinz Stockhausen.
